Projects

FABD is using wonderful combination of activities for Mental Health;  art & mindfulness therapies.

Workshops and projects centered around these activities can provide a creative outlet, promote self-expression, and offer relaxation techniques. These initiatives can all be affective ways to promote well-being and reduce stress.

ART & CRAFTS

Painting

It is widely known that artistic creation can soothe and reduce stress for hospitalized children and people in palliative care. However, many applications also help with autism, social disruption, psychiatric disorders, and attention disorders.

The benefits of art therapy can be summed up as follows:

  • Art therapy helps reduce anxiety by promoting concentration.

  • Art therapy promotes communication and develops artistic potential, allowing for increased self-confidence.

  • Art therapy makes it possible to work on emotional conflicts, from their revelation to their management.

  • Art therapy is ideally suited for the management of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Therefore, it is evident that the population potentially interested in this discipline is relatively large, whether in individual or group sessions. We can easily imagine this approach being used to relieve stress in a company, a prison, a youth hostel, a school, a retirement home, a senior citizen association, etc.

Sound and Music Therapy

The 3 main types of music therapies.

  • Sound healing directs specific sounds, creating vibrations that impact a person’s well-being. The “Mozart Effect” is one of the most famous sound therapies. A study suggests that listening to Mozart’s music for 10 minutes enhances a person’s spatial-temporal reasoning performance. Some claim that other than cognitive performance, it influences emotions too.
This type of therapy does not just strictly work with Mozart’s music as there are other classical performances and styles of music with similar sonic properties that provide the same positive stimulus for the brain.

  • Music healing uses music to communicate for people who have difficulty expressing their feelings and thoughts in words. It is a way of eliciting engagement or active participation of a person by creating music, which leads to positive health results.

There have been many wonderful results for this type of therapy, particularly with Autistic children, as a way to help them communicate.

  • Sound training promotes music as stimulation to identify and create frequencies specific to the listener. Sound and listening training come in many different forms. One of the most recognised methods is the Tomatis Method which uses sound manipulation and gating to train the brain to focus at specific times.

Music Class

The right music at the right time can generally help in a number of ways:

  • Improves attention, concentration, focus, and memory

  • Develops language, speech, communication and socialisation

  • Enhances learning skills like reading and comprehension

  • Boosts self-awareness and confidence

  • Reduces anxiety and stress

  • Promotes better quality of life (sleep, appetite)

Art, crafts, sound, and music therapy workshops can be incredibly enriching and beneficial experiences. These workshops provide opportunities for individuals to explore their creativity, learn new skills, and engage in therapeutic practices. Participants can discover various art techniques, experiment with different materials, and express themselves through artistic expression. Sound and music therapy workshops may involve activities like playing instruments, engaging in vocal exercises, or experiencing sound baths to promote relaxation and self-discovery. These workshops often create a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can connect with others and enhance their well-being through the power of artistic and therapeutic practices
